Health Tip: Coping With Sweaty Feet

Posted on November 9, 2018

By Diana Kohnle, HealthDay Reporter

(HealthDay News) -- If your feet are sweaty much of the time, you may have a condition called hyperhidrosis. While it's not cause for worry, you can do things to cope with excess sweating.

Here are some suggestions from the American Podiatric Medical Association for keeping feet dry:

  • Wash your feet daily, especially between the toes, with antibacterial soap.
  • Dry feet well, then sprinkle cornstarch, foot powder or an antifungal powder to keep feet dry.
  • Choose socks made of synthetic materials that wick sweat away from the feet. Avoid socks made of 100 percent cotton.
  • Wear shoes made of breathable material.
  • Keep an extra pair of socks with you and change them during the day.

Here are some questions and conversations from MyHyperhidrosisTeam:

"Will this ever end... so fed up with the soaking wet feeling, I even wear puppy pads to absorb sweat..."

I had hyperhidrosis since a child. I profusely sweat on head face hands nose and feet. I would love to hear from someone who may have the same problem and what if anything did you find that helped?

"I was going to meet a few friends but with me Sweating from Feet and Hands basically anywhere I COULD sweat from and the teachers and students would take delight in embarrassing me and little did I know it was going to get much worse and it did and has from Head to Toe."

Do you sweat excessively on your feet? Do you have any hacks for keeping your feet dry?
